Spring Decor Must Haves

Monday, April 17, 2017

Happy Monday!

After a week off for Spring Break, to spend with the kids, I feel refreshed and ready to get back to work. I hope you all had a lovely Spring Break and enjoyed Easter Weekend with the people you love.

Today's post is going to be sharing some of my decor must haves for Spring. These are all on my home decor wishlist and they are all from Would you expect them to be from anywhere else?

Right now I am IN LOVE with plants. Pops of green scream spring, weather it's a boxwood ball or a gorgeous magnolia wreath, I'm loving having them around our home. We have a magnolia wreath similar to this one above, on our front door but the flowers are white instead. This boxwood ball with the rose gold and white pot is so gorgeous as well. I love the little pops of white among the green. This faux magnolia in the vase is so pretty with the pops of pinky purple.

I've always loves faux flowers. The never die and they add a touch of femininity and romance to any room. These roses are quite pricey but they are so beautiful and unique. They are actually dried roses and preserved moss in a glass box. That is so cool! I've never seen anything like it before. Especially the ones on the log. They are also preserved roses. It's masculine and feminine all at the same time. Of course, I had to throw in a simple floral in a clear vase. Those are always in style.

I'm obsessed with stone accents right now. Whether it's a marble tray to store skincare or jewelry in your bathroom, or fun stone decor pieces, I just love the way they add a little something different to the room. The texture is beautiful and I love these soft pale pinky peach tones with the white and gold. They are so unique.

I love interesting shapes in furniture. This white round coffee table with the touches of wood on the bottom is awesome for being functional, as well as adding something fun to look at. I love that it's not just your plain square or rectangle coffee table, because that means no sharp edges if you have little ones, and it takes up less space if your room is a little tight. The gold geometric shapes of this end table catch your eye, and I love the white marble on top. Again it's functional, but adds a fun design element to the room. And we all know I love anything white and gold. Then there is that gorgeous white faux fur bench. This would be great at the end of your bed for a place to set pillows or if you need a place to sit while getting dressed.

Last but not least, we have the gold accessories. You know I love gold. I also love accessories. This pineapple mirror is simple, but adds a little playfulness to the room. It would be so cute in a bathroom. The gold tree is perfect for storing bracelets, rings and necklaces, while also looking chic. Any kind of lamp with a fun gold design, is right up my alley and I love the big round base of this one. I'm also a sucker for little storage boxes and these little pink flowers on top of this one, instantly got my attention. It reminds me of the Daisy perfumes from Marc Jacobs.

There you go guys. Those are on my Spring Decor Wishlist. What's on yours? What's your favorite piece from my must haves?

Enjoy your week.

5 TIPS to Take Care of YOU | Spring Beauty

Friday, March 17, 2017

Sponsored by Nature's Bounty

Hello!!! Happy Friday and Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you are all having a very green and fun filled day. We've been in the festive spirit over here this week, as we had to create a leprechaun trap, for Phoenix's homework. So needless to say, I think I'm a little leprechauned out right now lol. So instead of a St. Patrick's Day inspired post (I totally forgot to take picture of the little creation)... we will be talking about how my beauty routine starts from the inside out, and the tricks I've been using to take care of me, so that I can be my best and most beautiful self.

#1. Vitamins

I'm terrible about taking vitamins. I buy them, let them sit in my pantry, and completely forget about them. I'm not a fan of having to swallow pills, it's just not my jam... and so I think that makes it even harder for me to take vitamins, on a regular basis. Also, who wants a bunch of pills/capsules on the counter or somewhere that you can see? Not me. And when things aren't easily seen or easy to grab, sometimes they are easily forgotten. But luckily for me, Nature's Bounty® Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies come in pretty pink packaging, (so I don't mind having them on display to match my pink/girly desk).... but they are GUMMIES!! YAY! Plus, they taste delicious. So it feels as though you are having a super yummy treat, when you eat the recommended 2 gummies per day.

Isn't the packaging cute?

I specifically love these ones, because I know I'm helping my appearance, from the inside. We can all put on makeup, snazzy skincare, curl our hair and paint our nails. But we also need to remember, that beauty starts from within, so making that conscious effort to take care of ourselves on the inside, as well as the outside, is just as important. Nature's Bounty® Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies provide you with the vital nutrients your body needs to support your natural beauty from the inside and out.*
They are full of vitamins to help you feel healthy, feel beautiful and feel well. With a mix of vital nutrients including Biotin, Vitamin C and Vitamin E, Nature's Bounty® Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies work from within to support lustrous hair, vibrant skin and healthy nails.*
They also come in softgel form too, just incase you don't care to chew gummies. Personally, I love the gummies.

I think a lot of us think of beauty routines as solely applying topical treatments on a daily basis, and we often forget to supplement our inner beauty with vital nutrients. Nature's Bounty® Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies strawberry gummies contain 2,500 mcg of Biotin per serving and Vitamin C & E. When my clients used to ask me how they could get healthier hair, I always recommended for them to take biotin. Now you can, very easily, with those added vitamins as well.

Here's a little more info about Nature's Bounty® Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies:

-Each ingredient plays a specific role to support lasting beauty from the inside. *
-Vitamin E, is an antioxidant and it supports skin health. *
-Vitamin C is involved in collagen production and formation which forms the basis for vibrant skin. *
-Biotin is a B complex beauty-supporting nutrient, which plays a role in hair, skin, and nail health, making it the perfect foundation for any beauty routine.*

-Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies are made with naturally sourced colors and flavors and come in a delicious strawberry flavor.
-Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies contain no artificial flavors, milk, lactose, soy, gluten, wheat, yeast, or fish. They are also sodium free.

The Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Challenge is a great way to try Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies or Softgels for one month, risk-free. Start the challenge today to help with lustrous hair, healthy nails and vibrant skin, and your future self will thank you! Another thing I've been actively trying to do, is drink more water. I'm actually really bad at drinking water. Always have been. It's one of those things, just like with vitamins in the pantry, if I don't have water right next to me, ice cold and fresh, I won't go out of my way to get some. So I make sure that before I sit down to work on the computer, I fill up my water bottle and keep it at my desk. That way, it's there, staring right at me and so it makes me have a more conscious effort to drink it. Once I get absorbed and wrapped up into editing, emails and all that good stuff, it consumes me and I won't stop to get water. That's why keeping my vitamins and water at my desk, helps me to actually take them and drink it. It's rather pathetic really, that such a little thing is so hard to do for me, but hey, sometimes you have to realize your weaknesses, and find a way to do what you need to do. Not only is water great for your body in general, but it makes such a huge difference in your skin. I can see a huge difference in my wrinkles on the days that I haven't had enough water vs the days that I'm hydrated.

#3. SILK

I recently got a silk pillowcase. It's supposed to help your skin by not absorbing the serums and creams you put on your skin at night. I actually think it does help. Your skin feels more hydrated, it's supposed to help you wake up with less sleep creases which in turn helps with wrinkles, it's natural and hypoallergenic and it feels amazing on the skin. When you lie down to go to sleep, it's silky and cool on your skin and it feels so relaxing. It's also supposed to help keep your hair from getting snarly and tangled while you sleep, because your hair just slips right off of it. It really has made a difference in my bed head.

I recently have gotten into essential oils. I've always heard about them but never actually tried them out on a daily basis. I've recently been having trouble sleeping, which I believe has taken a toll on my appearance. So I've been trying to find ways to help calm me and relieve some of my stress. I love YouTube, but it causes a lot of stress internally and sometimes I have hard nights of not being able to switch off or get out of my head. I've recently been using a diffuser and oils at night to help me with that problem. I use a variety of different relaxing and soothing oils to help drift me into a more relaxed sleep and state of mind. I do think it's help with my sleep. I've also noticed that I've been having super vivid dreams. It's really quite interesting actually. I wake up remembering them as it is were real and I do wake up more refreshed that I have been. I specifically love lavender and a relaxation blend that I've been using. Eucalyptus is also very soothing. I think the lavender works the best for me though.

If you watch our vlogs, you know that we recently decided to take the weekends off. For years we have been uploading every single day, which meant we never got a day off or a chance to be able to switch off from work. And it was hard. Emotionally and physically because we were exhausted. So we decided to make a change for our well being and for the overall happiness of our family. I think it's important to realize when you are overworked and tired and need to take care of yourself. So we took the weekends off to relax. Everyone needs time to relax and be able to just chill. And it's been really helpful. I'm so glad we decided to do it because I needed it so badly and I was fighting it for a long time. So that has helped because I feel like I have more me time. And that's important.

I've also been making an effort to go to bed earlier. Before Jay and I had kids we went to bed really early. For a very long time, I was going to bed at 1 or 2 in the morning and waking up at 6. So it was really hard to get good sleep and not feel super tired. So now if I feel like I need to get some sleep, instead of busting my booty trying to to stay up late working, I listen to my body and I go to bed. It makes a huge difference. You have to listen to your body. I think that's a very important key to taking care of yourself.

Okay guys! That's my tips on how I take care of me. I hope it's helped you switch up your beauty routine. It's not always about makeup. It also has to come from within. It's how you feel.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend. Make sure you take some time to relax. Grab a magazine, put your feet up and just take a little time to yourself. You deserve it.

DIY Unicorn Treats | 🦄 Hot Cocoa & 🦄 Cheesecake

Monday, January 9, 2017

We all know by now my latest love for all things unicorn. One of my sweet followers on Twitter posted a unicorn cheesecake link to me and I got so inspired. I had seen the ever so fancy and very popular unicorn hot cocoa weeks before being passed around on Twitter, but hadn't attempted it myself. But then I thought... why not? You can do this! So I did. And so can you!

The first one I decided to make was the Unicorn Hot Cocoa. Both recipes I found on and then I tweaked them a little bit to my taste. The cocoa they made was purple with a few different colored whipped creams. I stuck to pink whipped cream and blue whipped cream. Pink for us girls and blue for the boys. I also decided to make my hot cocoa mixture pink.

Pink for Lily and I

Blue for Phoenix & Jay

See original recipe here: DELISH.COM

  • 2 c. heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 drops red food coloring
  • 3 drops blue food coloring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 8 oz. white chocolate
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 2 tbsp. Pink sanding sugar
  • 3 drops red food coloring
  • Lucky Charms
  • White mini marshmallows
  • Pink crystal sprinkles
  • Pink ball sprinkles
  • Gold & White ball sprinkles
  • Pink sprinkles

  1. Make rainbow swirl whipped cream:
  2. Beat heavy cream and sugar until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes. Divide whipped cream into 2 bowls. Stir 3 drops of red food coloring into one, creating pink whipped cream. Stir 3 drops blue food coloring into the other, creating blue whipped cream. Set aside.
  3. Make unicorn hot chocolate:
  4. In a large saucepan, combine milk, vanilla, and white chocolate over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Once dissolved, stir in pink sanding sugar, and red food coloring adjusting amounts until you get the shade of pink you want. Pour into mugs.
  5. Top with dollops of each color whipped cream. Top each drink with Lucky Charms, marshmallows and sprinkles. Enjoy!
It took a little bit for the cream to be made but other than that the recipe was easy. Of course digging out all of the charms out of the cereal box took a little while too but that's a fun job for the kids to do to help Mama out.

Ok! So next we move on to the incredible Unicorn Cheesecake. This was intense! It looks so beautiful and whimsical and it taste delicious. It's not overly sweet but it is very rich, so one slice was more than enough for me. I couldn't even finish it! And that is not normal for me hahaha! This was also another recipe I got from and modified it to suit my taste. You can be creative, add different sprinkles, change up the colors.... it just depends on what you want it to look like.

Original recipe here: DELISH.COM

  • 2 8 oz blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. heavy cream
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • red, green, blue food coloring
  • 1 store-bought graham cracker crust
  • Lucky charms (just the charms)
  • Same Sprinkles as hot cocoa, for decorating
  • Whipped cream, for serving

  1. In a large bowl using a hand mixer or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment (I used my husband because we don't have either of these) beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth and fluffy, 3 minutes.
  2. Add heavy cream and beat until stiff peaks form, 2 to 3 minutes more. Add vanilla and beat until combined.
  3. Divide mixture among 4 small bowls (or one bowl for each color you're using) and 4 drops of a different food coloring to each bowl. Mix 3 drops of red and 2 drops of blue to purple. Stir to combine, adjusting color as desired.
  4. Add spoonfuls of the dyed cheesecake mixture to graham cracker crust, alternating colors until you’ve used up all the mixture.
  5. Top all over with sprinkles and lucky charms.
  6. Refrigerate until cheesecake is firm and sliceable, 6 to 8 hours. We did 6 hours.
  7. Serve with whipped cream and more sprinkles. Enjoy!

There are my two super fun Unicorn inspired treats I made this weekend. I hope you like how they turned out. The kids had SO much fun making them with me. It was a family affair, because I'm too weak to mix the cream cheese mixture (remind me to get a fancy mixer) and the kids are excellent at digging through cereal boxes to find charms. So thank you to my hubby Jay, for his muscles and to my kids for their amazing treasure hunting skills. Oh and they also decorated the top of the cheesecake (can't you tell)... they covered it with charms hahaha! It's such a fun way to spend a rainy day in with the kids. If you decide to recreate it and put your own snazzy spin on it, please tag on me Instagram @samschuerman or Twitter @samschuerman. I'd love to see your Unicorn creation.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!

What I Do When I Can't Sleep

Thursday, January 5, 2017

If you've been watching my vlogs, then you know I have a darn tooth infection. Needless to say, I'm in quite a bit of pain and I can't sleep. I've been up for the last few hours tossing and turning trying to get comfortable but it's just not happening.

Watch it here:

So instead of laying there miserably, I figured I would get up and take advantage of everyone sleeping and have some me time. I casually watched a few You Tube videos that I've been wanting to watch, but haven't had time to, and then of course, I felt guilty about enjoying myself too much and figured I'd do some work while I was at it, and so I decided to write this blog post.

Here are the things that I end up doing at 4am when I can't sleep. Hopefully you can try some of these things too, to help pass the time next time you find yourself restless and not able to sleep.

First thing I did was check my Twitter and reply to some comments. You guys are always first on my list :)

Next I went over to my latest desk tour and replied and hearted your comments over on there.

Watch it here:

Then I head on over to my friend Kendra Atkins channel to watch her Nursery Tour and Labor/Delivery Vlog. She just had twin girls and I'm so broody right now. Everything she does it perfectio, so I knew her Nursery would be gorgeous, and of course I was right. You should go check it out. Her girls are gorgeous and their names are the best! June and Violet!! AHHH! Too cute. Be sure to subscribe to her. She's awesome!

Nursery Tour:

Twin Labor & Delivery

Next I decided to do some online window shopping. That always makes me forget about my problems hahaha. I found this GORGEOUS pink faux fur throw from West Elm. OMG, it's gorgeous. It's on sale for $89.99 which is still a little more than I want to spend on a throw but it is gorgeous and worth sharing.

So yah, that's all I've done for now. What do you do when you can't sleep? I feel like it's no fun when you are really tired and want to sleep so badly, but can't. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight. Wish me luck!

My Perfect Morning

Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Hi Guys!

Today I'm going through my perfect morning with you. This is what my ideal morning would look like, so chances are slim that this happens everyday but I do try my best to start my morning of right, so that I feel my best all day!

#1. Morning kid snuggles.
Every Mom wants their kids to wake up in a good mood and have a smooth morning. I love it when the kids hop into bed with me and they are still snuggly instead of wired and full of beans. So in my perfect world, they would still be sleepy and snuggle with Mama for a few minutes before we get up. It's those little special moments that you miss from when they were smaller, that mean so much as time goes and they become big, independent kids.

#2. A good breakfast.
Sometimes this doesn't happen. I really try to sit down with the kids and have a proper breakfast, but sometimes life is hectic and if I'm running behind, I quickly grab a bar or a morning round to snack on while I'm running out. But ideally, I like to have a bowl of granola with strawberries and raspberries & a cup of hot ribena. English scones with clotted cream and jam with a cup of tea would be quite amazing too (a girl can dream).

#3. Putting my makeup on.
This is right up there with the first one. Now that the kids are in school, if I don't wake up early enough, I don't have time to put my makeup one because I'm too busy packing their lunches and snacks, giving them a bath, fixing their hair and helping to get them dressed and ready for their day. So an ideal morning includes me waking up early enough to take 20 minutes to myself and put on my makeup. It just makes me feel so much better for the rest of the day.

#4. Catching up on magazine gossip.
Now this NEVER happens. But, this blog post is about my perfect morning. So in my perfect morning world, I would have time to catch up on a little bit of gossip, fashion and beauty. I love magazines. When I used to go to work as a hair stylist, I was always up to date with all the latest celebrity gossip because in between clients or on a slow day, I'd read them all. But now I don't get a whole lot of time to do that. So in my perfect morning, I'd casually look through a magazine while eating my breakfast ha ha!

#5. Catch up on social media.
Now this does actually happen in the mornings. I try to catch up while I'm in the car when we're taking the kids to school (obviously if I'm not driving). It's the perfect time to post an Instagram pictures, check my tweets and glance at my emails to see what's in store for me once I get home. My unicorn case makes me smile, so that's always a good way to start the day!

#6. Take a nature walk.
Again, this doesn't happen at the moment because my mornings are my time to work once the kids go to school, so for now, I just don't have the time. But I'm hoping that once Lily is in Kindergarten and I have a little bit more time to get work done, I'll be able to add this to my morning routine. Before I had kids, I would always start my day with a 1 hour walk and end it with a 1 hour walk. Every day. It was amazing. It made me feel really good and my body looked nice and toned. So this is on my list of future plans to make a perfect morning. Is it bad that I'm already dreaming of Spring?

What does your perfect morning look like?
