#ThrowbackThursday: Wedding Dresses & A Tiny Baby!

Hi My Loves!!

Before we went on our trip to St. Louis we were digging through our memory tote box and finding some delightful treasures. I thought these would be perfect for this weeks #ThrowbackThursday.

Let's start with something very special to me.... my wedding dress. I tried it on again because it's fun to try on old things. I was 24 when we got married. The bust is a little too big but the waist still fit just fine and dandy. It's wrinkly and has a little water damage on the bottom from when one of our houses flooded back a few years ago but I still love it. It's nice to have to be able to show the kids when they are older ;) Here's a random little fact.... I bought this dress from Craigslist for $50 and had the arms cut off and the sweetheart neckline made. What a bargain!

Here's one of my most favorite pictures of my Mom and Dad. Doesn't she look happy here? She had thrown a surprise party for my Dad's 40th Birthday. This was a couple of years before she got sick.

I saved all of her diarys and notebooks. I love to look at her writing, it makes me feel like she just wrote it down. This is one of my favorites. Just a simple shopping list but so special to me. Her handwriting was so pretty. We used to go to Calligraphy classes when I was about 8. I had so much fun with my Mom.

Here's one of Jay and I in England. We went and visited Stratford Upon Avon a few months after we got married. This bear was so cute... my Nanny took the picture of us. We look so young! I loved my hair that color. It was so pretty and shiny!

One of my favorite cards that Jay got for me. It was a just because card which are the best kind. Just shows you that they are thinking of you. So romantic ;)

This tiny little baby was a gift from my Mom and Dad. I'm not sure where they got it but I've had it since I was a little girl. My Nanny and I decorated a matchbox with wrapping paper to make her a little bed. It's a pretty cool baby :)

And here is me when I was first born, in the hospital with my Mom, Dad and Nanny. I love this picture. My Nanny put it on a plate but with all the moving we've done in my life, the plate broke... I saved the middle bit and keep it in a little bag she sewed. It's my very special picture plate ;) My Dad looks so much like my brother here, it's crazy how similar they are. I only wish I had a picture like this with my babies while we were in the hospital. Just a nice picture with Jay and I, our new baby and my Mom.

Typing this while my whole family sleeps because the boys caught my tummy bug. Luckily Lily's seems fine. My tummy is still not 100% but I am feeling better. Poor Jay and Phoenix are not happy chappy's today :( Good news is that my brother is about an hour away as a type this! He's been driving from Tahoe and is staying with us for a few days, so I'm very excited to see him. It's been 6 months since I've seen him.

Hope you enjoyed my #ThrowbackThursday :)

Have a great rest of your week!

  9. How sweet Sam. My parents weren't rich for sure but I remember clearly one day my father came home with a Cabbage Patch doll for me. Gifts were few. And I still have her and can't wait to pass her on to my daughter when she gets a little bit older. A beautiful memory of my father. It really is the small things that count.

  13. Party Dress UK are getting confused as to which rite of passage you are celebrating. Just because we love to point out that 'death is not an end, but a passage', we've forgotten that a wedding is a passage, and not an end in itself. Think of the symbolism: a funeral is a kind of divorce.

Let's get this straight. Is this a grown-up Bridesmaid Dresses 2014, with some dozens of people attending, or a gala kids' birthday party for as many guests as your age, plus one? As much as you cherish the notion that everyone's going to sigh with nostalgia every time they look at the little plastic bell, most of the time there's no real way to store or display otherwise worthless doohickeys in a normal apartment or home.

Also, every extra doodad, no matter how cheap, is going to have to be multiplied n-fold. It does add up. would you rather that they remember your Designer Brides Dresses for your really great courtesy and hospitable nature, or for the really great Jordan almonds?.
