My TOP 5 Tips For Healthy Hair & My Beauty Shortcuts!

Hi My Loves!!!

I have had so many people lately asking me how I keep my hair healthy. It has grown like a weed in the last couple of months and even though I do highlight it, it still manages to look healthy and shiny. Today I'm going to share what's been working for me :)

As most of you know I was a hair stylist before I had Phoenix. I worked at a salon until I was about 6 months pregnant with him and it was my true passion for years. I have tried out a lot of products, had a lot of different hair colors and hair disasters and so over the years I have come to find what works and doesn't work for my hair. Years ago, a new line came out and we instantly fell in love with it and started introducing our clients to it. We had all of them hooked, as well as ourselves and I've loved it ever since. It's a 10 was the product and since then, they have expanded their line into so many more amazing products. Until now I had only used the original formula of the It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Product, Miracle 10 Hair Mask & Miracle 10 Shampoo. That's initially what they came out with back when I was at the salon and that's what we used on all of our clients. It was one of those products that could be used on almost everyone.

Here's how It's a 10 describes their Leave-in collection:
It's a 10 Haircare offers consumers a Miracle Leave-in Product like no other with their 5 product Leave-in Collection. A thick cream that comes out as a fine spray, the Leave-in acts as a conditioning product and styling aid. Each product has 10 benefits to instantly deliver superior, salon-quality haircare. A miracle leave-in like no other.

It’s a 10 Haircare Benefits:
1). Nourishes Hair
2). Adds Shine
3). Color Protectant
4). Repairs Hair
5). Detangles
6). Stops Breakage
7). Heat Protectant
8). Controls Frizz
9). Improves Shine
10). Locks in Moisture

I've been using the It's a 10 Miracle Hair Mask & Miracle Leave In Product for the past few months now. I get mine at the beauty supply and have used it for years on and off. I always end up going back to it because it makes my hair manageable, it detangles like no other, leaves it shiny, silky and makes blow drying so much quicker and easier. After I towel dry my hair, I like to spray the leave in on the middle and ends of my hair. I get my wet brush and brush the product through my hair so it's evenly distributed. Most of the time (to save time and keep my hair as healthy as possible) after I've applied the Miracle Leave In Product, then I let my hair air dry other than my bangs. The leave in leaves my waves frizz free and defined without looking like I have anything in it. It's the quickest and easiest way for me to keep my hair healthy and looking good. If I do need my hair to look extra snazzy, then I do the exact same steps as far as towel drying and then applying the leave in, except then I follow by blowdrying, flat ironing, curling etc.

Here's my hair after just blowdrying it with the Miracle Leave In Product in my hair only. I did not flat iron or curl. Just blow dried.

Here's a couple other pictures of my hair :)

Another way I like to wear my hair is to let it air dry and then pull it up in a pony tail and pin my bangs bang. This is also great for those in between washing days when it might look a little less than perfect :) The pony tail and top bun is your friend when you don't wash your hair every day!!

My TOP 5 Tips For Healthy, Shiny Hair & My Beauty Shortcuts:
1.) Don't wash everyday
You need your natural oils from your scalp to work it's way down to the end. I try to do mine every other day to every 2 days. Just get a good shower cap and put your hair up when you shower on the days you won't be washing :)
2.) Use a weekly treatment and leave in conditioner
Once a week use a good treatment and leave it in your hair for at least 5-10 minutes. This is going to help repair your hair and keep it looking shiny and silky. Be sure to use a leave in conditioner like It's a 10 every time you wash your hair and always before you blow dry. Not only are the It's a 10 a leave in conditioner but they are also a thermal protectant so they will help guard your hair from blow drying and flat ironing etc.
3.) Use either a wide tooth comb or specific brush like the "wet brush" when combing out wet hair.
Using any old brush on soaking wet hair will cause breakage and end up causing you split ends. Towel dry hair before combing and try to wait until your hair is damp instead of super wet before blow drying.
4.) Try to let hair air dry as much as possible. Use heat like blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons as little as possible.
Letting your hair air dry naturally is one of the best things that I have done for my hair. The less heat the better and it's really helped keep my hair healthy, strong and has made it so that I'm able to grow my hair out and keep it long without looking dry and damaged. If you are not going to work, let your hair air dry on your days off. Sometimes to save at least one heat step, I will braid my hair after washing it at night. The next morning it's dry and already has a nice wave. Then I will just add a few curls. This way I'm saving my hair from blow drying it and all I have to do is use the heat from the iron. Not only are you helping to keep your hair healthy, you are saving time as well. We all know how precious that is when you are a Mama :)
5.) Use a heat protectant if you can't air dry your hair.
This is so important!!! If you are someone who can't bare to think of not having your hair looking perfect at all times.... at least use a heat protectant. 4 of the It's a 10 leave in products have heat protection so you know you are saving your hair from all that nasty heat.

So those are my tips on how I keep my hair healthy and how I manage to save a bit of time in my beauty routine. After all, nobody wants to spend their whole day styling there hair! So now that I have shared my tips with you let's talk about options for those of you who are looking for which leave in is best for you....

I was recently given the opportunity to try out some more of the It's a 10 leave in conditioners. I already had and have used the Miracle Leave-in product but had never tried any of the others. Over the past couple of weeks I have had a chance to try them all out. I feel like a kid in a candy store each time I wash my hair and reach out for a leave in... which one do I pick?? Haha!

From left to right in the picture above:

1). Miracle Leave-in PLUS Keratin
2). Miracle Leave-in Product
3). Miracle Leave-in Lite
4). Miracle Leave-in for Blondes
5). Miracle Silk Leave-in

Let's talk about each one and what their benefits are.

Miracle Leave-in PLUS Keratin

Here's what it does:
1. Maintenance of keratin straightening treatments
2. Increase styling and manageability
3. Perfect for all hair types
4. Replaces lost protein
5. Protects the natural keratin in hair
6. Protects against heat
7. Restores hydration balance
8. Detangles, defrizzes and adds shine
9. Strengthens hair structure
10. Seals cuticles for extra silky hair

This one is perfect for anyone who either bleaches, highlights, perms or relaxes (permanently straightens) their hair. These types of processes make it so that your hair needs more protein. The hair can feel noodly as I like to call it. It's like combing spaghetti if you have had too much damage from bleach. This will help to strengthen the hair so that you no longer have Angel Hair pasta on your head ;)

Miracle Leave-in Product (where it all started)

1. Repairs dry damaged hair
2. Adds shine
3. Smoothes & controls frizz
4. Seals & protects hair color
5. Detangles
6. Prevents split ends
7. Stops hair breakage
8. Creates Silkiness
9. Enhances natural body
10. Flat iron spray & thermal protector

This one is perfect for almost anyone out there. We used it on pretty much every client we had. The only hair I wouldn't use this one on would be very fine hair that needs volume and gets weighed down easily. There is a product for that though :) This is going to instantly detangle. It smells like heaven, leaves your hair shiny, silky, manageable, is a color protectant and a heat protectant. Woohoo! The great thing about all of these leave in's is that they don't leave a residue in the hair at all.

Miracle Leave-in Lite

1. Enhances natural body
2. Weightless detangler
3. Adds silkiness
4. Adds shine
5. Humidity resistant
6. Color protector
7. Prevents split ends
8. Eliminates frizz
9. Thermal protector
10. Environmental protection

This is the one I was talking about for those of you who may have fine, thinning hair that gets weighed down easily. If you are someone who feels like everything you use, weighs your hair down and leaves it feeling heavy, greasy or flat.... you will love this one. It's so lightweight, has a great scent and still has all the benefits or the original but with a lighter formula. This is actually one of my favorites.

Miracle Leave-in for Blondes

1. Tones hair color
2. Enhances brilliance
3. Reduces fading/extends vibrancy
4. Adds shine & restores moisture
5. Restores elasticity & strength
6. Detangles & defrizzes
7. Seals the cuticle
8. Thermal protector
9. UV protectant
10. Designed for all blondes

Now this is pretty self explanatory.... it's for blondes :) Perfect for moi!! The great things about this leave in is that not only does it help tone out brassiness and keep your blonde looking extra shiny and bright, it helps protect your blonde from the uv rays (they can help give that delightful brassy tone and help to fade out those golden and caramel tones)... It's also going to help keep it your hair healthy, shiny and give your delicate hair the strength it needs to look it's best. This one has a more soapy scent than the other ones which have more floral notes.

Miracle Silk Leave-in

1. Explosive silkiness
2. Cuts down drying time
3. Shields against frizz
4. Enhances body
5. Protects color
6. Strengthens hair shaft
7. Instant detangler
8. Ultra moisturizing
9. Glossy shine
10. Build up free

This one is for those of you who wants that extra silky, luxurious hair. This is so silky and leaves your hair extra shiny. It makes blow drying so smooth and your fingers and brush just glide through. Plus it saves a huge amount of time blow drying :) That's always good! This one has my most favorite scent. It's smells so much like Michael Kors perfume. It's almost exact. I absolutely love this scent and I'm obsessed with how my hair smells each time I waft it around :)

Each and every one of these leave-in conditioners smell amazing and the scent stays in your hair for a long time after you spray it. I loved each and every single one of these and I tried all of them. I think they key is knowing your hair type and then just picking which one is best for you. And if you are really stumped just go with the original. I had pretty much every one of my clients hooked on it. The smell alone is enough to make you use it haha! Who needs all the other amazing benefits when your hair smells good ;)

Okie dokie.... I hope that's helped! Please let me know if you do try it out, I'd love to know your experience.

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Makes your hair pretty but people really need to look up the ingredients their are some really bad things in every single one of them (like most products) but be wise ladies alot of problems you have just may be some of the products you are using. Skin problems to internal problems even hormonal issues. Educate yourself on some of the ingredients in your products.

  5. Hey,truly decent post. How frequently you wash your hair ought to be focused around the amount of oil your scalp produces. On the off chance that your scalp is oily, you may need to wash it as frequently as once a day.On the off chance that you have synthetically treated hair, your hair may be drier,so you may need to wash it less oftentimes. As you get more seasoned, your scalp makes less oil,so you shouldn't shampoo as frequently. At the same time on the off chance that you see pieces in your hair, you may not be shampooing enough. This can prompt dandruff and other scalp sicknesses.Thank you.

  6. Put in a bit of argan oil or coconut oil, or a leave-in conditioning product (one that doesn't need to be washed out).
